What we install at home

The right broadband for your address, not just what we sell

For most rural Welsh homes the realistic options are full fibre (FTTP), SOGEA part-fibre, or 4G fixed wireless. We check live availability across the major networks before we recommend anything. The engineer who recommends the option is the same one who installs it.

Where FTTP is available we quote it first. It is the most reliable home broadband on the market, with symmetric speed available on the higher tiers.

Where FTTP has not reached, SOGEA carries broadband over the existing copper without the phone-line rental. It usually delivers 30 to 80 Mbps and is enough for most households.

Past the cabinet, where FTTC speeds drop with distance, 4G fixed wireless is often the answer. A small router with a multi-network SIM, plus an external antenna if needed. We check signal at your address before quoting.

Home broadband FAQ

What people ask before they switch

Is full fibre available at my address?

Put your postcode into our broadband and signal checker. It pulls live availability from the UK's major fibre wholesale networks for your exact address. Full fibre is widely available in central Aberystwyth, Aberaeron, Newtown, Welshpool, Brecon and Bangor. Outside the main town footprints it varies street by street.

What if there is no fibre at my address?

We will quote SOGEA over the existing copper if it carries useful speeds. If not, 4G fixed wireless with a multi-network SIM and external antenna typically delivers 30 to 80 Mbps. Last resort, Starlink. We will be honest about what is realistic.

How long is the contract?

24 or 36 months on full fibre, with the longer term usually carrying the better monthly price. A 30-day rolling contract is available where flexibility matters more than cost, but the per-month rate is significantly higher, so we only recommend it when there is a specific reason.

Can you handle the Access Broadband Cymru grant?

Yes, for any eligible address. The scheme applies to rural homes currently below 30 Mbps with no commercial rollout planned. We handle the paperwork as part of the install.

What is the install like?

Most full-fibre installs are one engineer visit, around one to two hours. 4G installs are similar and usually do not need a fibre engineer.
