When Starlink is the right answer

Satellite broadband, installed by an engineer

Starlink is satellite broadband operated by SpaceX. For properties where neither fibre nor 4G delivers usable speeds, it often does. We survey the site, install the dish properly, run the cable through the building and tune the network.

This is consultation-led work. We would rather tell you Starlink is not the right call here than sell you a service that does not fit. Where it is the right call, we get on with it.

The install is not DIY-grade. Line-of-sight check for obstructions (trees, neighbouring buildings, terrain), mount the dish on a roof, gable or separate mast as needed, weatherproof entry through the wall, run the cable cleanly, set up the router, integrate with any existing network and tune the WiFi for the property.

We will come back to retune the WiFi after a fortnight of everyday use if anything needs adjusting. That is part of the install, not an add-on.

  • Site survey first — obstructions, mount location, cable route
  • Professional mount: roof, gable, pole or separate mast
  • Weatherproof cable run through sealed entry points
  • Router setup and WiFi tuning for the property
  • Network integration with any existing routers, VoIP and cameras
  • Optional post-install retune after a fortnight of real use

Where Starlink usually fits

  • Hill farms past the reach of fibre and 4G
  • Holiday cottages without a fixed line
  • Valley properties signal-blocked from mobile networks
  • Businesses where reliability matters more than the lowest price
Starlink installation FAQ

Common questions about Starlink installs

How long does an install take?

Survey is usually 30 minutes. The install itself is typically half a day. Complex sites with high masts, long cable runs or multiple buildings can take a full day.

Where do you mount the dish?

Wherever the satellite view is clearest and the cable run is manageable. Common locations are the roof peak, gable end, or a separate mast. We suggest options after the survey.

What if trees are blocking the view?

We use the Starlink app's obstruction check during the survey. If trees are in the way we suggest a mast or a different mount point that clears the view. Better to find out before the install than after.

Does it work in heavy Welsh weather?

Yes. Heavy rain and snow can briefly degrade signal, but the dish is designed for it. The bigger weather problem is wind on poorly-mounted dishes. Ours are mounted to spec.

Do you supply the Starlink kit?

No. The hardware comes direct from Starlink. You buy the dish and router from them, we handle the install. That keeps your warranty straight with Starlink and keeps our quote to the work we actually do.
