4G broadband uses a router with a SIM card inside, connected to the same mobile masts your phone uses. The difference is an external antenna where signal needs lifting, and a SIM designed for fixed home use rather than mobile data.
This is not a one-size-fits-all option. Performance depends entirely on signal at your specific property. We will not quote a speed without checking your address first.
4G broadband for rural Welsh homes
We check signal from all four UK carriers (EE, Vodafone, O2 and Three) at your address, then put the SIM on the one that performs best. Single-network SIM on whichever carrier delivers the strongest signal at your property, not a generic multi-network setup.
For homes where the fixed line tops out at 4 to 8 Mbps over copper, 4G is usually a clear upgrade. Typical results in mid-Wales sit between 30 and 80 Mbps, sometimes higher with a roof-mounted antenna.
When 4G is not enough: satellite as the fallback
Some Welsh properties sit in a genuine mobile not-spot with no usable 4G signal at all from any carrier. For those addresses we offer Starlink satellite installation instead, professionally mounted and set up. We will tell you honestly which option fits once we have checked your address, rather than trying to sell you 4G where it will not perform.

Kit and installation
- Standard kit: £199 inc VAT (indoor 4G router, suitable for most addresses with good outdoor signal)
- Long-range kit: £299 inc VAT (external antenna and weatherproof cabling for harder-to-reach properties)
- Installation: £399 inc VAT. Includes site survey, mounting, cabling, router setup and signal optimisation. We check signal before quoting and will not recommend an install where the signal will not deliver.

Will 4G work at my address?
It depends on the signal. Put your postcode into our broadband and signal checker and we will check carrier coverage at your specific property before quoting. We will not promise a speed we cannot verify.
Which carrier will you use?
Whichever delivers the best signal at your property. We check EE, Vodafone, O2 and Three coverage at your specific address and put the SIM on the strongest one. There is no point putting you on a network with weaker signal just because it is what we have to hand.
Is it as good as full fibre?
In good signal areas 4G can be much better than poor copper. It is typically slower and more variable than full fibre. Where fibre is available, we recommend it first.
Will my existing router work?
We supply a 4G router as part of the setup. It handles WiFi for the property. You do not usually need a separate router.
Can I combine 4G with home VoIP?
Yes. Add home VoIP on the same connection and we set up traffic prioritisation so voice quality is protected.
Do you do business 4G as well?
Yes. Same signal check first, same best-carrier approach. For business sites we can layer in 4G failover and a higher SLA where reliability matters.
What if there is no usable 4G signal at all?
A small number of rural Welsh properties are genuine not-spots with no workable 4G from any carrier. For those addresses we offer satellite installation as the alternative. We check signal honestly before quoting either option, so you get whichever one will actually work at your address.
